The Apostille – The Hague Convention of 5 October 1961

    Starting with March 16th, 2001, Romania joined the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961, a Convention concerning the abolishing of the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents. Observations

1 – There are a series of recommendations of some clerks from abroad that require the legalization of Romanian documents to be performed necessarily through the embassy or consulate of the respective country in Romania. These clerks are usually less informed and do not know the fact that Romania has already joined the Hague Convention and that procedures of legalization of documents through embassies and consulates have been abolished; once a document bears the Hague Apostille, the embassies and consulates have no right to produce a supplementary certification...citeste mai mult
